Sorry about the no show last week, it was the last full week of the summer holidays and honestly I was suffering from some major burnout from doing so much. My head just wasn’t in the game, but hallelujah my kids are back to school and I’m attempting to get back into a routine so hopefully it should be smooth sailing from here on in. Who am I kidding? It’s never smooth sailing where ADHD is concerned, which brings me nicely to todays article…
Ever walked into a room and forget why you are there? What about forgetting to respond to a text message that someone has sent you? Well if you have ADHD, then it’s not a big surprise. However, what is very frustrating is all this companies trying to push us from phone calls to live chat which let’s face it aren’t friendly to anybody who’s got a bad memory.
I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve started a live chat with my bank and then totally forgot about it until I see missed messages hours or days later. Ok I hear you say, well why don’t you just ring them instead? Well I don’t know if anyone’s noticed but a lot of these companies have gone to great lengths to hide their contact numbers on places like google and even their own websites.
It’s so frustrating especially when you want to tell somebody about a situation before you forget it. Effectively what they are doing is creating more barriers for people with communication issues and as someone who is passionate about effective communication then it really grinds my beans.
So to all the companies who are trying to force live chats on people, I say this, stop alienating a lot of your customers and focus on doing stuff that’s going to bring you more business! Rant over…until at least next week. Us ADHDers with ADHD don’t need any more barriers than we already have to getting support.
