Today’s blog article is going to be a short and sweet because just like last week I’m still waiting for my brain to power back up to it’s fully functionally level, if only I knew when exactly that would be because I do with it happening like yesterday.
Anyway in today’s blog article I want to talk about that think that kids don’t want, and adults can never get enough of….yep I mean sleep!! Did you know as you get older apparently your body supposedly needs less sleep?? That’s what the majority of people say!
Lately I haven’t been sleeping well at all; though PMS and my crappy mattress might have something to do with (I’ve ordered myself a new one coming soon thank goodness!). It’s a well-known fact that a lot of ADHDers struggle with sleep!! Some struggle to get to sleep, some struggle to stay asleep and then most of us can’t get up in the morning no matter how hard we try!
I’ve found I keep walking up at weird times of the night and panicking like I’m expecting to die or something, I can’t workout if it’s anxiety, night terrors or some other random occurrence. The point is lately I’m always tried, and I’ve had enough!
I really hope it’s not because I’m getting older and my body is adjusting to less sleep, I was always a better sleeper when I was younger. That’s why ADHD is such a difficult condition to manage; sometimes it robs us of much needed sleep that’s essential for our overall well-being, then that has a knock-on effect for everything else.
It’s not like I can take a nap during the day because 1- I have too much to do and 2 every single time in my life I’ve had a nap I always wake up feeling worse than before I had it. It’s like my brain has a little bit of something good then reacts negatively when it’s taken away.
What’s your go to tips for sleeping guys? I can only sleep when it’s pretty silent or quiet and both ears are covered, but if there is a much better way besides knocking myself out with a rubber mallet I’d love to hear it. In the meantime I’ll be constantly googling why can’t I sleep to see if there is a miraculous answer on there!!
Take care ADHDers, hopefully I’ll be back on my game next week or at least be fully refreshed. Hope you guys have a great nights sleep, if you can!
