Around 2.5% of the global adult population has persistant ADHD alongside 8% of children. This accounts for 300 million adults and 129 million children together totalling nearly half a billion people across the world.

Unfortunately, there is not much holisitc support specifically for ADHD, besides medication, except for parenting courses which indirectly attributes the blame/ management of the condition to one group of people.

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition, which affects how the brain recieves, processes and outputs information. This can have a big impact on behaviour, abilities, education, mental health and life opportunities.

Despite there being a lot of stigma and sterotypes around ADHD, most scientist and experts agree that ADHD is a real condition. Infact in the last decade it’s started to become evident that ADHD can be picked up on a brain scan. ADHD became a genuine diagnosiable condition in 1968 under its earlier name of Kinesthetic Disorder. This was later changed to Attention Defict Hyper Disorder in 1980.

Historical there is evidence for ADHD as far back as 1978 when a doctor named Alexander Crichton wrote in chapter two of his book about what is considered healthy attention and how he noted this had differed from person to person and that factors could influence it should as early childhood experiences.
