It was my birthday recently!! I treated myself to some pampering and the New Indiana Jones movie followed by pizza hut with my nearest and dearest. I got some lovely presents amongst which was my new fitness tracker watch for my parents.
For those of you who have been following my blog for a longer period of time, you will know that I have been trying to lose weight since January, which as many of you know, with ADHD that’s not an easy task. Anyway I am pleased to report that I’ve now lost 31 pounds and counting. I’m not going to lie; it’s been hard work, but I am finally reaping the benefits.
I wanted a fitness tracker watch to monitor my steps but also see how many calories I’m burning at the gym and when hula hooping at home. Here is hoping I’ve burnt more calories than I thought and not less. Anyway one of the things the fitness watch does it track sleep; it not only tells you how long you’ve been asleep but how much was light sleep and how much is deep restful sleep.
The average person needs at least 1.5-2 hours deep restful sleep every night, well would you believe what my average for this is? Yep you’ve guessed it, a lot lower than expected, I’m averaging about 41 to 52 minutes of deep sleep a night. I’ve talked about sleep before, and how it’s common knowledge that people with ADHD get less sleep because their brain is wired differently and won’t stop humming.
Still it’s a bit annoying to be proved right; no wonder we’re all so cranky in the morning, we’re not getting the sleep we need no matter how much we do of it. The only good thing that can be said for me is that I tend to drop off quite quickly, I only wish my stupid brain would quit and get with the restful programme. Having said that, we can’t have everything, can we?
